Overview

The Community Legal Services Program 2025–2030 (the program) forms part of Program 1.4 Justice Services, within Outcome 1 of the Attorney-General’s Department Portfolio Budget Statement. Outcome 1: A just and secure society through the maintenance and improvement of Australia’s law and justice, security and integrity frameworks. Program 1.4 Justice Services: contributes to the outcome by ensuring an effective and efficient justice system, and improving outcomes for vulnerable people facing disadvantage by ensuring their access to legal representation and associated services. The program provides essential legal services and representation to individuals and communities nationally. This includes offering culturally appropriate support, outreach services in remote areas, and community training and education on legal rights and issues. The objective of the program is to support the provision of legal assistance to the community by funding national legal assistance service delivery and activities that complement the delivery of community legal services by the states and territories under the National Access to Justice Partnership 2025–2030 (NAJP). The objective of the grant opportunity is to provide continuity of national legal assistance services and to support eligible activities. More information about the Program, as well as requirements for applicants can be found in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
