Overview

The grant opportunity supports the Nature Positive Plan and builds better environment outcomes by recognising that First Nations peoples’ participation in land management is crucial to environmental outcomes and providing an opportunity to integrate and value First Nations’ knowledge and participation in managing Australia’s environment. The grant also supports activities for conservation and recovery of natural habitats for species targeted under the Threatened Species Action Plan 2022-2032 and other Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) listed species across multiple regions, contributing to national efforts to prevent new extinctions. The objective of the grant opportunity is to protect natural habitats and threatened species and ecological communities in arid or semi arid zones through implementation of improved fire management regimes at a landscape scale to reinstate traditional patterns of burning.
