Overview

The ReMade in Australia scheme will commit $8 million in grant funding over 3 years from 2023-24 to 2025-26. The program will develop a certification trade mark, ReMade in Australia, to be used on Australian products made with recycled content. The brand will promote Australian made products that contain recycled content to support consumers to make sustainable purchasing decisions. The ReMade in Australia brand will be registered as a certification trade mark under the Trade Marks Act 1995 (Cth). Australian products made with recycled content that meet the certification trade mark criteria will be eligible to use the brand. The objectives of the program are to: strengthen consumer confidence in, and demand for, Australian made recycled content products drive an increase in demand for Australian recycled content and Australian recycled content manufacturing. These objectives support the commitment made by Australia’s environment Ministers in October 2022 to keep materials in use and achieve a circular economy by 2030. The intended outcomes of the program are to: establish, grow and promote a trusted brand for Australian made recycled content products, that grows consumer and business awareness and confidence in verified recycled content products (i.e. ReMade in Australia products), that are available for purchase increase Australian recycled content markets, supported by a partners program that enables a wider range of entities in the recycled content manufacturing supply chain (for example recycled content suppliers, retailers, and packaging partners) to engage with and support the brand. A key measure of success for the program is that the ReMade in Australia scheme can be sustained in the longer term and be operated independently of Australian Government funding.
