OECD Sustainable Agriculture Research Program
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Overview
The OECD Sustainable Agriculture Research Program (the program) will run for one year. The objectives of the program are to: highlight the adverse impacts of trade and production distorting agricultural subsidies on achieving sustainability-related objectives such as the Paris Agreement on climate change, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals (e.g., ‘Zero hunger’ (SDG2), ‘Climate action’ (SDG13), and ‘Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems including halting biodiversity loss’ (SDG15)) build evidence on, and raise awareness of, the benefits of agricultural reform including how such reforms may be delivered domestically and internationally. The intended outcomes of the program are: targeted research projects; OECD policy briefs; international advocacy events or initiatives to promote research outcomes; the integration of agricultural support and land use indicators in existing OECD climate change dashboards; analysis to “price” the risks to agriculture and food security from market distorting agricultural subsidies. We administer the program according to the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs)[1]. [1] https://www.finance.gov.au/sites/default/files/commonwealth-grants-rules-and-guidelines.pdf
