Overview

The Australian Government, through the Better Renal Services for First Nations Peoples Budget Measure, will provide $45 million from 2022-23 to 2025-26 in infrastructure funding for up to 30 dialysis units in remote and very remote locations. An additional $28.2 million, announced in the 2023-24 Budget, will further support this measure by funding workforce accommodation, where necessary.  This measure will support First Nations people with end stage kidney disease who must undergo dialysis treatment, often in locations far from their families and communities.    This grant opportunity will provide infrastructure funding for the construction of workforce accommodation at the three dialysis sites announced in Round 2 of the Better Renal Services Budget Measure (GO6811):  Wiluna (WA);  Tom Price (WA); and  Badu Island (QLD).  The funding can be utilised for costs of land purchase, property purchase, construction, purchase and installation of modular buildings, alterations or renovations, completion and fit out of the relevant buildings. The eligible organisation will also be encouraged to include philanthropic or community funding to support the project.  An externally contracted National Infrastructure Project Facilitator (NIPF) will provide the eligible organisation with specialist capital works project services to assist the eligible organisation to manage the infrastructure projects under this Grant Opportunity. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting the eligible organisation in selecting and contracting trades professionals and suitably qualified builders.
