Overview

This grant opportunity was announced as part of the 2024-25 Mid-Year Economic Fiscal Outlook. LGBTIQA+ community-controlled and community-led services are well positioned to provide care and support to LGBTIQA+ people, who experience poorer health outcomes compared to the general population. Whether delivered by community-led or mainstream providers, safety and inclusion are at the core of health care for this priority population. The purpose of this grant opportunity is to support the rollout and management of the LGBTIQA+ Health Program (LHP) for dedicated health and wellbeing initiatives for LGBTIQA+ people and communities across Australia. Funding provided through the LHP will be disbursed and managed by a third-party (see section 4 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines for eligibility criteria), with the Australian Government through the Department of Health and Aged Care maintaining ultimate oversight and responsibility. The LHP seeks to uplift LGBTIQA+ community-controlled, community-led and where appropriate, mainstream organisations that deliver dedicated clinical and non-clinical health care and/or wellbeing services tailored to one or more LGBTIQA+ subpopulations. The LHP through this grant opportunity will contribute to the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Health and Wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ People 2025-2035.
