Overview

This grant opportunity was announced as part of the 2023-24 Budget. $3.3 million (including indexation) was provided for a pilot program in up to five Primary Health Network (PHN) regions to test the impact of, and demand for, arts and music therapy services for vulnerable communities as a complement to other longer-term supports, including clinical services. The purpose of this grant opportunity is to implement a pilot program to provide creative arts and music therapy services to people with moderate to severe mental health challenges.  A total of up to $2.998 million will be provided to participating PHNs to commission these creative arts and music therapy services from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2027.  The remaining $0.3 million, plus an additional $0.2 million from existing resources, will be used to fund an independent evaluation of the pilot over the 2-year period. Selected PHNs will be required to engage with the evaluator. All PHNs were invited to provide a submission as part of the Expression of Interest (EOI) process for the Creative Therapies Pilot. Following the EOI process, three PHNs were selected to participate in the Pilot. Therefore, this grant opportunity is only open to Brisbane South PHN Ltd, Healthy North Coast Ltd and Murray PHN Ltd. Selection via the EOI process does not guarantee success in the formal grant round.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
