Overview

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to fund a national provider for a three-year period from 2025-26 to 2027-28 to continue the delivery of Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Services (DBMAS), Severe Behaviour Response Team (SBRT) and Needs Based Assessment (NBA) services. They form the Government’s three-tiered approach to support carers and the health and aged care sector in managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) that affect a person’s care or quality of life, through nationally consistent dementia behaviour assessment and support services: • Tier 1: DBMAS provides specialist clinical support and advice to service providers and carers of a person with BPSD, regardless of their setting (including community, health and aged care). It typically assists individuals with mild to moderate dementia, who require short-term engagement. • Tier 2: SBRT provides support to residential aged care services who require assistance caring for those with severe and very severe BPSD, with more intensive support over longer periods of time. • Tier 3: Through the NBA service, the SBRT also manages national referrals and eligibility assessments for the Specialist Dementia Care Program that provides transitional residential care for people with very severe BPSD.
