Overview

The Ear Health Training program (the program) will run over two years from 2024-25 to 2025-26.  The objectives of the program are:  deliver nationally accredited training to primary health care professionals who provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to develop their skills, knowledge and competency to provide ear and hearing health services, including for young children; and deliver training across Australia in locations close to the workplaces of primary health care professionals, including for those working in rural and remote communities. The intended outcomes of the program are: primary health care professionals across Australia have access to accredited training that enables them to identify, treat and/or refer for ongoing treatment, otitis media and/or related hearing loss in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including young children; and  increased capacity within primary health care to identify, manage and monitor ear health, and raise awareness to prevent otitis media, in accordance with clinical care guidelines on the management of otitis media in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations.  We administer the program according to the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs).
