Overview

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to ensure continued FASD diagnostic services in established or newly identified locations, targeted high-risk group screening and training of health professionals within agreed geographical locations that would otherwise not have professional FASD expertise. The locations services can be delivered in under this Grant Opportunity are listed in 2.1 (of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines) FASD Diagnostic Services: Table 1: Performance Indicators (PIs). These locations were selected to reflect service delivery areas in your current funding agreements, and areas identified as having an increased need for FASD diagnostic services. This grant opportunity was announced as part of the Budget Measure Prioritising Mental Health and Preventative Health – Continued in support of the National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Strategic Action Plan 2018-2028 (FASD SAP). In 2018, states and territories and the Australian Government endorsed the FASD SAP. The three key aims of the FASD SAP are to: 1. reduce prevalence of FASD; 2. reduce the associated impact of FASD; and 3. improve the quality of life for people living with FASD. Organisations funded under this grant opportunity will be required to continue to provide FASD diagnostic services, which links to the overall aims and objectives of the FASD SAP, and directly address priority area Screening and Diagnosis.
