First Nations Vaccination Uptake Support Program
Department of Health and Aged Care
Overview
The First Nations Vaccination Uptake Support Program (the program) will run over 2 years from 2024-25. The program was announced as part of Longer-term Funding to Implement the National Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmissible Infections Strategies and First Nations Communicable Disease Support in the 2024-25 Budget. The program aims to address declining First Nations vaccination rates. It aims to increase antenatal, childhood and adult vaccination uptake for First Nations people attending Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS). It will support ACCHS to deliver community-led, targeted and culturally safe and appropriate vaccination, education, engagement and communications activities. It includes establishing First Nations immunisation coordination roles within the First Nations health sector.
