Overview

The Mental Health Professionals’ Network (MHPN) grant opportunity will run over two years from 2020-21 to 2021-22. The MHPN grant opportunity facilitates a multi-disciplinary and intra-professional national practitioner platform which supports the community mental health workforce delivering clinical services through partnerships with Primary Health Networks (PHNs), professional associations and key stakeholders. The MHPN supports 369 practitioner networks, comprising approximately 10,700 members. The project provides an online professional development program and networking for local health practitioner networks including (but not limited to) General Practitioners (GPs), psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and social workers.    The grant opportunity supports health practitioner networks and national webinar program for ongoing delivery by the MHPN of professional, effective and accessible workforce training and networking activities for health practitioners to share knowledge and expertise. The funding extension provides for planning, maintaining and broadening MHPN’s two core elements: targeted local practitioner networks and a national webinar program. The grant opportunity will help to ensure stability and continuity for the professionals and existing networks, and maximise Commonwealth investment to date.   The objectives of the grant opportunity are to: support professional multidisciplinary and intra-professional networks and online development programs and webinars for health (including mental health) practitioners; and build on sustainable infrastructure developed to date to support activities under the national mental health reform agenda
