Overview

Funding for the Good Sports Vaping Prevention grant opportunity was included in the 2024-25 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook 2024-25 under the measure ‘Vaping Regulation Reform Package’.  The purpose of this grant opportunity is to reduce vaping rates and prevent uptake among young Australians, through education and promotion of available quit supports via community sporting organisations.  The Good Sports Vaping Prevention grant opportunity will design and deliver a training package to upskill community sporting organisations, specifically, coaches and club leaders. This will enable sporting organisations, coaches and leaders to support young people with whom they interact with in their capacity as community sport organisations to: understand the harms associated with vaping; encourage those young people who are vaping to quit; and to work to prevent the uptake of vaping by young people. The funding would support: the development and delivery of training for coaches and clubs that increases awareness of the need for appropriate steps to support young people to quit or prevent vaping; clubs to develop and implement policies that prevent and reduce vaping; tools and resources to disseminate messages that reduce vaping harms through club membership; and provision of ongoing information and education through webinars provided by experts.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
