Overview

The Pacific Legacy Program will provide vital investment for Pacific Rugby in the lead up to the Men’s 2027 and Women’s 2029 Rugby World Cups (RWC). Investment will result in more competitive Pacific teams, stronger national unions and increased pathway opportunities particularly for women and girls.  Rugby Australia will partner with World Rugby, Oceania Rugby, and the Pacific Unions to maximise high performance, management, well-being, and social outcomes across the Pacific region. The Legacy Program will focus on two key pillars:  Capability investment will be focused on enhancing performance, boosting competitiveness, and building a solid foundation for future success. Activities contributing to building capabilities include training and developing players, coaches, and management staff to improve their technical, tactical, and strategic abilities. Capacity-building investment will aim to develop the necessary skills, resources, and structures to ensure sustainable growth and success within the Pacific national unions. Activities that will be undertaken include strengthening governance and management, providing mentorship and training for executives and board members, improving facilities and equipment, supporting commercial growth and revenue generation, and fostering partnerships and collaboration.
