Mental Health Consumer and Carer Advocacy Program
Department of Health and Aged Care
Overview
This grant opportunity is a continuation of GO5470 – Mental Health Consumer and Carer Advocacy Program, which ran from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023. This grant opportunity aims to ensure Lived Experience Australia can continue to contribute to the mental health sector as a key systemic advocate and peak body for the private mental health sector in Australia. Specifically, this grant opportunity will ensure private mental health consumers and carers are involved in policy development and the implementation of mental health reform initiatives by providing online training opportunities for consumers and carers with lived experience; training for clinical staff in private mental health services; and acting as a representative body for private mental health consumers and carers. This grant delivers on the Australian Government’s 30 January 2023 announcement to elevate people with lived experience of mental ill-health to drive reform to support those with a lived experience of mental health to shape the policies and programs that affect them.
