Mental Health Early Intervention and Prevention Research: Prevention Hub Grant Opportunity

Department of Health and Aged Care

Overview

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to improve mental health outcomes for Australians by continuing to fund research into early intervention and prevention of mental ill-health, and implement approaches to prevent anxiety, depression and suicide. This will better enable the outcomes of the research to be translated into practical treatments and tools that can be implemented across clinical, workplace, education and community settings to help improve the mental health and wellbeing of Australians.  This grant opportunity will provide funding to ensure the continued support and development of resources and research opportunities developed by the Prevention Hub. The Prevention Hub is a collaborative research partnership dedicated to implementing and evaluating preventive mental health interventions in a range of settings. Delivering prevention research and implementation with a focus on anxiety and depression, the Hub is a partnership with the Black Dog Institute and Everymind. Findings from the research undertaken by the Hub should be provided to the Department in regular reports, submitted for peer-reviewed journals, and used to inform conference presentations, key reports and other events and publications.  The Prevention Hub is the first collaborative research project of its kind, dedicated to the implementation and evaluation of preventative mental health interventions in a range of settings. It has an existing framework operating in Australia, and continuation of this would enable continuity in its ongoing prevention research and implementation in Australia. The focus of the Prevention Hub on research and development of prevention strategies to reduce the burden of mental ill-health and suicide in Australian populations is consistent with the Australian Government’s Long Term National Health Plan.  To view the Grant Opportunity Guidelines, please select the red "GO Documents" button on the left hand side.
