Overview

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to facilitate the development and delivery of a preventive health and chronic disease program. The grant activity must align with the intent of the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030 (NPHS). The NPHS outlines a systems-based approach to prevention that addresses the interconnected causes of poor health and wellbeing, reduces health inequities, and decreases the burden of disease. The systems-based approach recognises that collaborative action is needed across all sectors, not just within the health system, to address complex issues such as physical inactivity.  The NPHS identifies seven system enablers that are critical to creating a more effective and integrated prevention system for Australia long-term. The grant activity should incorporate the enablers where possible, in particular the ‘“Increasing Physical Activity” focus area.  The NPHS also identifies seven focus areas that require critical action to reduce the risks of poor health and disease and to help Australians live longer and healthier lives. These focus areas include nutrition, physical activity, tobacco, immunisation, cancer screening, alcohol and other drug use, and mental health. The grant activity should seek to prioritise addressing these policy areas where possible.  All activities should be considered and implemented through a health equity lens.   To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "GO Documents" button on the left hand side.
