National Suicide Prevention and Leadership Program

Overview

The intention of this grant opportunity is tocontinue funding the 15 organisations currently fundedunder the National Suicide Prevention Leadership and Support Program (the Program) to continue delivery of nationalprojects, enhance data collection of grantactivities and to ensure a comprehensiveevaluation of the Program can be undertaken. The Program is designed to fund a range ofactivities that contribute to reducing deaths bysuicide across the Australian population andamong at risk groups and to reduce suicidalbehaviour (i.e. ideation, planning, self-harm andsuicide attempts). The objectives of the Program are to:• facilitate leadership, strategic partnershipsand collaboration in the suicide preventionsector;• reduce the prevalence of suicide and suicidalbehaviours in Australia and the impact onindividuals, their families and communities;• build the evidence-base to enable continuedimprovements in suicide prevention and ensurethe evidence base is shared and translated intobest practice across the sector;• reduce the prevalence of Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander suicide and the impact onindividuals, their families and communities;• reduce the stigma around suicide and raiseawareness of suicide prevention; and• provide support and care to individuals atheightened risk of suicide.
