National Suicide Prevention Support Activity Indigenous Suicide Prevention Leadership
Department of Health and Aged Care
Overview
This grant opportunity was originally announced in the 2019-20 Budget as part of the Prioritising Mental Health – Youth Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan. This measure aims to prevent suicide and promote the mental wellbeing of young people and Indigenous Australians. There is no singular, national voice and advocacy body in the Indigenous suicide prevention, social and emotional wellbeing and mental health space. The new body is established through an existing partnership between the Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention (CBPATSISP) and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership in Mental Health (NATSILMH). The objective of the grant opportunity is to establish and support a national Indigenous leadership body in social and emotional wellbeing, mental health and suicide prevention.
