Overview

The Central Australian Aboriginal Congress Aboriginal Cooperation’s (Congress) Child and Youth Assessment and Treatment Services (CYATS) Program is a specialist service that offer the Alice Springs Aboriginal community the opportunity to seek formal diagnostic assessment, speech pathology and occupational therapy intervention for children who are suspected of having a neurodevelopmental delay or disorder, including but not limited to Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).  The current need for neurodevelopmental assessment far exceeds the current capacity to provide diagnostic services. As such, the purpose of this grant opportunity is to build the capacity of CYATS through additional staff and associated resources to further enable both town-based assessments and assessments in community. The intended outcome of this grant opportunity is to increase CYATS’ current capacity from approximately 90 assessments per year to approximately 200 per year.
