Overview

This grant opportunity is a one-off investment in the capability of the national peak community based organisations critical to the national public health response to blood borne viruses (BBV) and sexually transmitted infections (STI). In particular, it provides eligible organisations with resources and support to: • strengthen their capability to evaluate the impact of their current and future activities; and • design and deliver complementary evidence-based activities that support achieving the goals and targets of the five National BBV and STI Strategies 2018-2022. The grant opportunity forms part of the Health Protection and Emergency Response Program (HPERP), that aims to protect the health of the Australian community through the provision of support for: • effective national leadership and coordination; and • initiatives that strengthen Australia’s capacity and capability to detect, prevent and respond to threats to public health and safety arising from communicable diseases, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other incidents that may lead to mass casualties. More information about the five National BBV and STI Strategies can be found at: https://www1.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/ohp-bbvs-1.
