Overview

The Institute of Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) is currently delivering capacity building services to Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) at locations where there is identified unmet aged care need for First Nations Elders in the local community.  These funds will enable ACCOs to continue to engage with First Nations Elders who have not yet accessed aged care services, assess their needs in a culturally sensitive way and deliver culturally appropriate and flexible, entry-level aged care services.  The learnings from these assessments and service delivery will inform other work in the department aimed at developing integrated service models, culturally safe assessment tools and flexible, tailored aged care service offerings. Further information on the DACS Fund is available on the department’s website. This funding is required as an urgent priority for the delivery of culturally appropriate aged care services specifically targeted to First Nations peoples who would otherwise be at risk if the current services are unable to continue.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left hand side.
