Overview

The Australian Government is continuing its commitment to ensuring that there is a reduction in the incidence of preventable mortality and morbidity, including through national public health initiatives, promotion of healthy lifestyles and approaches covering disease prevention, health screening and palliative care. The program contributes to the department’s Outcome 1: Health Policy, Access and Support, Program 1.5: Preventative Health Chronic Disease Support and is aligned with the National Preventative Health Strategy 2021-2030. The Stroke Golden Hour program grant opportunity was announced as part of the 2024-25 Mid-Year Economic Fiscal Outlook process.  The purpose of this grant opportunity is to ensure continuity of critical stroke support services, including a national digital telestroke platform, stroke smart road map and air ambulances, and prehospital clinical training. Additionally, this grant will also assist to embed telestroke care in standard pre-hospital care, supporting equity of access across regional and remote areas of Australia. The model will connect comprehensive stroke centres (regional hubs) to stroke referral sites in regional catchments (the spokes), while maintaining a centralised stroke service, and leveraging and building upon existing IT and infrastructure and improving capability.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
