Overview

The purpose of the grant opportunity is to renew funding to continue the Trauma Assessment Referral and Recovery Outreach Teams (TARROT) project. This grant opportunity will support ongoing implementation of the project and the development of an evidence base and a transferable model for implementation more broadly. The TARROT project was developed by Ngaoara Limited and applies a child-centric approach to identify and address the developmental, emotional and behavioural impacts of trauma in order to contribute to breaking the intergenerational cycle of dysfunction that affects some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families. The TARROT project is tailored to the needs of each community and has established multidisciplinary in-reach and outreach teams. These teams provide primary care, allied health and specialist intensive case management using cultural care plans to identify and manage existing health, wellbeing and behavioural issues of children and families. The TARROT project undertakes capacity building activities to support services, staff and families of children affected by trauma in providing trauma informed care. This activity includes an evaluation, which will document the implementation model, provide evidence of its effectiveness and inform any future implementation in other communities.
