Overview

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to fund the data administration of a national clinical registry on joint replacement. The registry’s purpose will be to improve and maintain the quality of care for individuals receiving joint replacement surgery by collecting information on joint replacement surgery from all hospitals in Australia that conduct this type of surgery. The information is then used to inform surgeons, health care professionals, governments, orthopaedic device manufacturing companies and the community on the performance of individual joint replacement devices. By using the best performing joint replacement devices, patients are less likely to need revision surgery. The grant opportunity will fund a national body to be responsible for the administration of the National Joint Replacement Register (NJRR). This involves collection, dissemination and monitoring of information relating to hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle and spinal disc replacement from all hospitals in Australia that undertake joint replacement surgery.
