Overview

The Medicare Mental Health Centres grant opportunity provides funding for the establishment and ongoing operation of Medicare Mental Health Centres nationally. The objective of this grant opportunity is to commission Medicare Mental Health Centres to address a critical gap in Australia’s mental health system by providing free, multidisciplinary, place-based, mental health services for people with moderate to severe needs. Medicare Mental Health Centres offer:   • immediate help and follow-up for people who are in distress,   • assessment and short to medium-term support for people with mental health concerns,   • support for carers and families of people experiencing mental health distress,   • help connecting people with other services to support them in the future, from health to mental health, and social supports like housing and employment.   Medicare Mental Health Centres must be commissioned and delivered in accordance with the National Service Model and relevant clinical care standards. The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:  • commission flexible mental health services to meet local needs and priorities • improve consumer access to free mental health services and supports, and • improve coordination of care for patients and integration of mental health services in their region.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
