Overview

The grant opportunity forms part of the $32 million election commitment Strengthening Medicare: Backing Men’s Health, announced by the Australian Government on 24 April 2025.  The purpose of this grant opportunity is to provide culturally responsive services, resources and training to support men to be better connected to, and supported by, the health system. This is an important element for improving long-term health and wellbeing and limiting exposure to preventable chronic conditions. Men’s reluctance to seek support in formal healthcare settings means targeted efforts at the community engagement level are vital and should be tailored to critical life stages. This includes adolescent and teenage boys, expectant and new fathers and older men. Movember conducts the world’s first online professional training program (Men in Mind) co-designed with practitioners and men to help mental health therapists engage with their male patients more effectively. The proposal would revise and extend training for delivery to primary health care practitioners across Australia. This activity would also involve Movember developing and delivering a campaign to encourage more men to visit their GP and/or primary healthcare practitioner.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
