Overview

This grant opportunity forms part of the broader Perinatal Mental Health and Wellbeing Program, an ongoing sub-program that contributes to the Australian Government’s implementation of mental health reforms as a component of Portfolio Budget Statement Program 1.2: Mental Health.  This grant opportunity was announced as part of the Strengthening Mental Services for Children, Young People and New and Expectant Parents Measure. This grant opportunity complements the Perinatal Mental Health and Wellbeing Program which provides funding to a number of activities aimed at supporting the mental health and wellbeing of new and expectant parents experiencing, or at risk of, perinatal mental illness. The purpose of this grant opportunity is to expand the existing national network of 12 Commonwealth-funded perinatal mental health centres (Centres) by establishing and operating an additional eight Centres, increasing the total number to 20. The additional eight Centres will be operated based on the Gidget House model. The new Centres will support the Australian Government’s continued commitment to ensure new and expectant parents have access to the mental health support they need.
