Overview

The grant is for the provision of one activity under the overarching Program. It allows for the continuation of Omico’s Precision Oncology Screening Platform Enabling Clinical Trials (PrOSPeCT) program. The PrOSPeCT program provides comprehensive genomic profiling of tumour tissue from patients with advanced, incurable or poor prognosis cancers to match them to biomarker-driven therapies which may only be accessible in clinical trials. Tumour-based genomic profiling identifies somatic variants in tumour tissue and does not confirm germline variants that are inherited in families. The large-scale genomic screening of cancer patients is expected to grow industry-sponsored clinical trials activity in Australia by identifying cohorts of patients suitable for clinical trials across a range of cancers. The platform also identifies patients with suitable biomarkers for targeted therapies which may be Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) listed in Australia or registered products which may be repurposed for use in new (off- label) cancer indications. The PrOSPeCT program is designed as a public-private consortium, consisting of Omico, Commonwealth and NSW governments, and the Children's Cancer Institute of Australia as core members; with more than 15 small, medium and large businesses.
