Overview

This grant opportunity is a continuation of GO2224 and will contribute to the objectives of Outcome 1, Program 1.5 by supporting international tobacco control activities. The World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) is an international treaty negotiated under the auspices of the WHO. The WHO FCTC is the first international health treaty, where 182 countries covering more than 90% of the world population, are Parties (countries who are signatories to the WHO FCTC) to this Convention. The WHO FCTC Secretariat works with institutions that can assist Parties in a number of technical areas of the treaty. The WHO designates these entities as Knowledge Hubs and their role is to assist the WHO FCTC Secretariat in fulfilling the mandates given to it by the Parties to the WHO FCTC.   The WHO FCTC Secretariat has established nine Knowledge Hubs with one in each of the six WHO regions. Knowledge Hubs assist in the implementation of Article 22 of the treaty (Cooperation in the scientific, technical, and legal fields and provision of related expertise) by analysing, synthesising, and disseminating information in their areas of expertise in relation to the treaty. This grant opportunity is to fund the designated WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Legal Challenges based in Australia.   To view the grant opportunity documents, select the red Grant Opportunity Documents button on the left-hand side.
