Overview

The Support to Expand Youth Education about Online Sextortion grant will provide targeted funding to address the growing need for sextortion education among young Australians by increasing the reach of SmackTalk over 2 years from 2026 to 2028. This includes presentations providing insight and information about the dangers of online sextortion and educating young Australians about strategies to recognise warning signs. Additionally, the funding will facilitate the growth of the current program by providing parents and community members with the information and tools they need to confidently deliver educational sessions to their communities. The objectives of the program are: to deliver free, audience appropriate, awareness raising information sessions to young Australians about the dangers and management of sextortion, and to educate them about strategies to recognise warning signs and help prevent suicide to reach more young Australians by engaging and training others to deliver information sessions and develop free, online materials; and to provide free access to early intervention tools.
