Overview

The Australian Government is inviting organisations via a one-off ad hoc process to deliver services from 2024–25 to 2025–26. Increasing Capacity of Crisis Accommodation Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples – Expansion 1 is a program to support urgent attention to increase the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander shelter and accommodation services, especially in regional and remote areas. This program is addressing service gaps identified from the Increasing Capacity of Crisis Accommodation Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples grant opportunity which opened for applications on 18 December 2023 and closed on 16 February 2024. The purpose of the grant is to provide funding to support an increase in the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander crisis shelter and accommodation services, especially in regional and remote areas. It contributes to the achievement of Program 2.1 Families and Communities within Outcome 2: Families and Communities of the Department of Social Services’ (the department)’s Portfolio Budget Statement. The program is designed to centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge, frameworks and responses in the way that services are designed and delivered to better meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with multiple and complex needs.
