Overview

The Australian Government is inviting the applicant to apply via a restricted process to implement The PLACE Initiative: A Centre for Place Based Change in communities throughout Australia from 2025 to 2029. The PLACE Initiative is a newly established grant opportunity that will run for 5 years from 2024–2025 to 2028–2029.This grant opportunity will fund a national organisation that will support communities across Australia to build local partnerships and strengthen their place-based capabilities. The PLACE initiative was publicly announced on 30 October 2024 as a measure under the Targeting Entrenched Disadvantage package and represents a key early initiative under the Investment Dialogue for Australia’s Children (IDAC). The PLACE initiative is a component of Outcome 2.1.1 Families and Communities Program/Families and Children within the Department of Social Services Portfolio Budget Statement. The Place initiative will contribute to the delivery of the Families and Children Activity by seeking to build the capability of participating communities and strengthen the success of partnerships with Government, philanthropy and place-based work. This will amplify and accelerate outcomes in participating communities, particularly those aimed at disrupting entrenched disadvantage and in turn will improve outcomes for families and children.
