The objective of this grant opportunity is provide grants of financial assistance to support medical research and medical innovation projects that: Stream 1 (Priority area 1.1, Incubator): conduct short-term, small-scale development projects to establish the feasibility of novel cellular therapies. Such development projects should involve novel applications of human tissue or pluripotent stem cells. Stream 2 (Priority area 2.1, Incubator): develop disease model platforms. Research projects may include: development and validation of human stem cell–based models of disease, including genetic disease, infectious diseases and cancer development of high-content or high-throughput screening approaches generation of patient-derived stem cell lines for screening treatments. The intended outcome of the research is to improve the health and wellbeing of Australians by: Stream 1 (Priority area 1.1, Incubator): generating novel approaches to cell-based therapy that have the potential to transform clinical care. Stream 2 (Priority area 2.1, Incubator): accelerating the discovery of new treatments for disease using stem cell-based models. Applicants to this grant opportunity must propose to conduct research that delivers against the above objectives and those of the Stem Cell Therapies Mission as described in the Roadmap and Implementation Plan.
