National Nurse and Midwife Health Service
Department of Health and Aged Care
Overview
The purpose of the grant is to fund a National Nurse and Midwife Health Service to provide counselling and health support services for nurses, midwives and nursing and midwifery students. The National Nurse and Midwife Health Service will operate through four central hub locations, including Victoria-Tasmania, New South Wales-Australian Capital Territory, South Australia-Western Australia and Queensland-Northern Territory, as well as additional regional offices. The services will be delivered by clinicians (registered nurses, enrolled nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives) and will include telephone consultations, making support more accessible to those in rural, regional and remote locations. The National Nurse and Midwife Health Service will be modelled on the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV), a not-for-profit service supporting nurses in Victoria since 2006.
