Overview

As part of the 2023-24 Budget the Australian Government committed to continuing the National Health Call Centre Network, known as Healthdirect Australia Pty Ltd for an additional four years and provided an additional $33.02 million over four years (2023-24 to 2026-27) to support increased demand and promote access to after hours services provided by the National Health Call Centre Network. A further $2.29 million is being provided from the Primary Mental Health Care Funding measure announced in the 2021-22 Budget. This brings total funding for the National Health Call Centre Network for 2023-24 to 2026-27 to $221.02 million (GST exclusive). The Network aims to improve access to health services and provides accurate, trusted health information for Australian communities, particularly marginalised and special needs groups including those in rural and remote locations. The Network is also designed to use innovative technology solutions to improve access to health practitioners and manage pressures on the health care system.
