Department of Health and Aged Care
Overview
The Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program is a post graduate vocational training program for medical practitioners wishing to pursue a career in general practice and/or rural and remote medicine in Australia. This grant opportunity is to fund a salary support component for GP Registrars undertaking placements within RFDS bases in recognition that GP Registrars on placements are unable to bill Medicare for consultations. This funding will enable GP Registrars to access opportunities to develop skills in aeromedical retrievals, aviation medicine, flying clinic visits and medical evacuations within the AGPT Program. The grant aims to:•provide access for remote and isolated communities to general practice registrar services through RFDS facilities; and•provide salary support to GP registrars undertaking placements at RFDS facilities in place of Medicare billings.
