Overview

The Raise Foundation Student Mentoring Program (the program) aims to deliver the Raise Foundation best-practice early intervention and prevention mentoring program to Year 8 students at public secondary schools across Australia.  The program is aimed at students who are most at risk of disengagement and poor mental health and wellbeing, and will prioritise schools in regional and low socio-economic areas.   As part of an early 2020-21 budget announcement of youth mental health and suicide prevention activities, the Australian Government announced a total of $3 million (GST exclusive) for the program. $3.25 million in additional funding was provided in October 2021. In the 2023-24 Budget, the Government has agreed to further funding of $2.25 million to extend the program for 18 months.   The objective of the grant opportunity is to deliver the program to around 3,000 at-risk year 8 students at public secondary schools across Australia.  The intended outcomes of the program and grant opportunity are:  improved mental health and wellbeing outcomes of young people by building resilience and help-seeking skills of at-risk year 8 students across Australia;  reduced risk of future mental health problems and suicide; and  increased resilience during the current COVID-19 pandemic.    To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
