Overview

The Boosting Cancer Care in North Tasmania (the grant opportunity) will run over three years from 2022-23 to 2024-25. The Boosting Cancer Care in North Tasmania Program (the grant opportunity) was announced in the October 2022 Federal Budget. It will run over three years from 2022-23 to 2024-25. The grant opportunity is allocated funding from Program 1.5 Preventive Health and Chronic Disease Support. Program 1.5 provides support to all Australians to live longer in full health through reducing the rates of harmful alcohol consumption, illicit drug use, and tobacco use; and increasing healthy eating patterns, levels of physical activity and cancer screening participation. This grant opportunity will provide funding to the W.P Holman Clinic to recruit a full time Clinical Nurse Consultant for a three year period to provide specialist clinical advice to patients, their families and other health care professionals relating to cancer survivorship. The service will then link patients to local resources and community groups. The objectives of the grant opportunity will help cancer patients in northern Tasmania better manage their symptoms and access the psychological care and ongoing support they need to live well. The intended outcomes of the grant are: * building the capacity of the W.P. Holman Clinic to operate independently by the end of the grant period; * increased access for patients to specialist clinical advice; * increased access for patients to psychological care, support groups and local resources to improve their wellbeing; * improve and increase access to cancer specific survivorship healthcare services in regional communities; and * increased understanding of patients’ symptoms and how to manage them.  To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left hand side.
