Overview

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to support two projects that improve access to high-quality care and reliable health information for all Australian children and young people, irrespective of location.  Project 1: Enhancing Regional Paediatric Healthcare Access  This project aims to improve regional paediatric healthcare through investment in equipment, training, education, and new models of care across regional and rural health services in Victoria. This project will increase the number of children and young people who can receive high quality care closer to home, making the pathway to specialist care easier. Project 2: Scaling the National Paediatric Health Literacy Platform This project will enable the national expansion of the Royal Children’s Hospital Health Literacy Project. The project creates a range of engaging, inclusive and evidence-based digital health resources with and for children, young people and their parents. The project will use their voice, opinions and lived experience to shape the content and approach. Over half of all Australian adults have low health literacy, which can impact decision making about children in their care. By improving levels of community health literacy, this project will continue to help keep children and young people well and prevent them from needing hospital care so they can confidently develop positive health-seeking behaviours.
